A Serval kitten was admitted to the hospital and placed on a drip. The kitten was found next tot he carcass of its mother in an emaciated form. It would appear that the mother was hit by a passing car. The kitten is doing well, taking solids and will be transferred to second chance rehab center to be released back in the wild at a suitable time and place.
A Cockatiel was brought in with respiratory symptoms that turned out to have Pstiticosis which is a very contagious zoonotic disease highly fatal to birds and man. Fortunately the carcass was sent to the lab and a timely diagnosis was made resulting in all people who made contact being treated appropriately.
